JB Nesse, LCSW

Counseling can feel intimidating, but it opens the door to meaningful growth — whether through building self-awareness, reshaping how we think about ourselves and others, or working through trauma and hardship. My faith in Christ grounds my belief that we are made to grow through struggle and suffering, and I firmly believe that working with a counselor can deepen that growth, regardless of your background. It is never too late to learn and expand what you are capable of.

My counseling approach is holistic and integrative, always tailored to the needs of each individual client. I am committed to creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and educational. I believe every person brings unique strengths to the counseling process, and that part of my role is helping uncover and build on those strengths.

I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. My background includes working as a School Social Worker in the public school system (2019–2023) and as a therapist in the Chicagoland area (2023–2026). I am well-versed in helping families navigate school-based support, including 504 Plans and IEPs, and I have worked with children, young adults, and middle-aged individuals as they face life's transitions and challenges. I am especially passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and depression. With the right therapeutic support, I believe people can build a foundation of understanding and skills that fosters resilience — and that allows their experiences to become a source of genuine strength.

There is always hope amid suffering, and I look forward to helping you discover what your future holds.
